Paula...what is it, about New York, that Scots want to visit? Seems to me, because of its size, that would be the last place they would want to visit. Seems they would be more attuned to a smaller city (smile). But...then maybe they DO like large crowds and the "hustle and bustle".

Thanks Paula,

I read some of it. The Humour about the blonde harpist was amusing too.

PS; I agree with Charles's comment. It's also the last place on earth I'd want to visit.

Gil I have no incentive to visit New York therefore I guess it depends on taste. I guess if you live in a city you like to visit another city. Maybe you get more bargains I have no idea. I agree I wouldnt like the hustle and bustle. It wouldnt do if everyone had the same taste.

You are very welcome. I thought it was something different and it may be of interest. A few years back he used to have recipes and they were really nice. I have several friends who collected them each week. I dont know why he stopped.

ps I think likewise, I dont think I would like all the hustle bustle. However a neighbour was there last year and she thought it was marvellous.

This is very interesting. I love Scotland although I only visited for a very short time. I want to return. It is so beautiful. Went with my friends from England.
I watched Braveheart the other night. Is that a true story? I loved it.

About 20 years ago. A long time. My friends and I went all over Europe.
They we're from England. Northern. We went to the Highland Games.
Then back to England. Yes it has lots of history. The start of Golf for one.
Braveheart was about the Wallace clan. What clan are you from?
I have my Great grandmother was Stewart and my husbands was Cameron clan.
My Grandfather was from Stratford on the Avon. Tom Jones. He came to America with Al Ringling from Ringling Bros Circus.
Everyone here tries to find their roots.
Great Britian is so beautiful. One of my favorite in all of Europe.

Sue...yes, the story of William Wallace ("Braveheart") is true, and also what happened to him...which isn't easy to watch, if you're squeamish.

Years ago, our local PBS station showed a documentary about Bonnie Prince Charlie, and how he was defeated at the battle of Culloden...now that was one bloody mess...it showed how the bullets (maybe cannon balls) ripped through their flesh, and all the screams of pain, etc. VERY difficult to watch!

Hello Sue
I am sure you must have enjoyed the HIghland Games...was this at Braemar?

The Spences are part of the McDuff clan. Do you like golf? I remember when we were in our teens my uncle took my friend and I round the course at the time of the open we saw all the stars. It is a great atmosphere. I have relatives who are very good golfers plus my uncle was on the board for the golf in St Andrews.

Yes I have a cousin in MI and I know that geaology is very important to you folks whereas we tend to just accept it. I did some genealogy, but kept getting no answers. Over here they think you are morbid if you look up these things...its a different outlook on life I guess.

Regarding Braveheart that was true I didnt remark as I dont know how thorough the film is...and could not say if it was exactly what happened.

Hopefully I shall get a photo of the Wallace Monument added to the photos I have on my website. I shall let you know when I add one.

Hello Gil
I have just explained to Sue about Braveheart...I didnt know just how true the film was as I had not seen it.

You are well up on your history.

I remember seeing in a museum this round silver platter...at least that is what it looked like. However if you then put your drinking glass on it, it reflected the picture of Bonnie Prince Charlie. At that time any followers of his would have been beheaded, so they did this in secret. I always remember being intrigued when I saw it. There was a programme on tv about this not so long ago unfortunately I only saw the end.

Paula...the PBS documentary was called "The Battle of Culloden"..I think it came out in the 1960's. I saw several movie blogs, where you can get a download of "Braveheart". I have it on 2 video tapes. Most of these are on RapidShare...and you need to have an account, if you want a "fast download"...i.e. no waiting.

Here's one of the movie blogs, for a "Braveheart" download...

http://www.desiwarez.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=16247

You have to download each of the RAR files to make ONE AVI file. In the case of these, each has to be highlighted, copied into address bar (to get Rapidshare link), and then pasted in appropriate folder.

Gil, you never cease to amaze me. Thank you so much. I have to oepn a Rapidshare account as mine has terminated.
I have been waiting to get all the problems I am having with Multiply fixed first...but it is taking ages.

Gil roughly how big is a download?

Paula
gilinaz wrote on Jan 10, edited on Jan 10
Paula...well, the whole AVI movie can be around 700mbs. Each RAR file can range around 90 mbs.

There are around 7-8 RARs, per movie...but there can be more.
