Blog Entry Fight a Bad Mood in the Bath!Jan 31, '08 5:07 PM
for everyone

When you don't feel your best, it's all too easy to think up reasons to skip your workout and reach for the ice cream. Don't do it! When those bad days hit, put down the pint of Rocky Road and treat yourself to this mood-boosting bath instead!

Simply take a handful of fresh pine needles, put them into the toe of an old pair of pantyhose (a great way to put those snagged pairs to use!), and tie a knot at the top. Hang the bag under the warm water as you fill the tub — this will release the natural oils in the needles. Add a few drops of vanilla essential oil to the water and start soaking! Between the invigorating evergreen scent and the uplifting aroma of vanilla, you'll have a smile on your face and the pep back in your step in no time!

Paula..well, maybe a health-food store in northern Arizona. That's where all the pine needles would be located (smile).

Also...looks like I'll have to take my desktop back into the shop. I might have picked up some type of virus. I can get Windows to load, but it won't initiate. I can't access any of my programs. It keeps saying "file not found", and things like that. If it isn't a virus, then it might be "malware". And to think the computer was working OK, yesterday afternoon! I went to "My Computer", and nothing shows. Yet, I KNOW my folders, etc, are on the computer.

Have you tried to use the "Go back" function?
Switch off, wait a few minutes, switch on and press f8 immediately, you can then select to go back a day or two, this works very well, and will restart without any virus/worm etc.
John.

John...well, I have already disconnected everything from the computer...ready to take to the shop. If that's all that needs to be done, maybe they can do it...but if not...

I can't believe how many wires are hooked up to this thing!

I'm using the laptop, now.

Where did the ice cream come from?? I never eat it. I must be the only person who doesnt like ice cream...but then I have a dairy allergy. I tried to make it years ago. I got sheeps milk and it made wonderful ice cream, then I got Goats milk and it was full of little piece of ice...so I never have any.

Gil what a pity you didnt try John's suggestion. The other thing if you can do periodically, but you need windows to load, if you go to housecall and trend micros and get a free online scan. It is amazing what they will find over your own AntiVirus.

Does anyone know if you need Windows to "initialize", before you can access any programs on your computer? Is this why it says it can't find them...not even your folders or drives?

Also...will the F8 function work with XP?

Your problem sounds very bad indeed, I feel very sorry for you if this is the case.
Yes, of course you need "Windows" or some other operative system, but what you say/ask leads me to believe that you may have a defective hard disk, OUCH. You can try to open your "BIOS" when you switch on, there are many ways of doing this depending upon which "BIOS" you have on your mainboard. Pheonix, etc. each has it's own entrance key combination, but normally it will be displayed on "Boot", it could be "Delete" but it will show as soon as you see anything on your screen, do whatever, then it may be a very good idea to go through whatever possibilities that are shown until you come to one that says "Restore system defaults" Do this, remember to save changes however this should be done (Often F10) Your PC will reboot, (I hope), then you can go back to your "BIOS" and reset anything that is wrong. It is a good idea to save the "BIOS SETUP" before you do anything at all.
I wish you luck.
John.

John...well, all the items on my desktop load...but now it takes awhile. When using the shortcut on the desktop, it tells me it can't find the program source. This is why I thought...maybe...Windows hadn't initialized. Also, all my folders are on a separate drive J:>...but all my programs are on my C:> drive. I'm just wondering why my folders (separate J drive) don't show? Yes...my C:> is the older drive.

Hi again,
OK, if your desktop PC starts, but you can't see your data/drives the problem could be a virus/worm in one of your files, hope not. However, if you only have one HD partitioned so the your data is on a partition and your programs are on "C" drive I do not understand why!
Does the PC start?, if so, can you go online?
If you have more than one HD it could be that your data drive is defective, hope not unless you've made backup.
You can mail me about this at " john.wellbelove.gmail.com " or call me on "Skype" stormlizard-one . You can join Skype at, = www.skype.com, the download and install does not take so long. It is free, and is far superiour to MSN or Yahoo etc.
John.
gilinaz wrote on Feb 1
John...well, I was under the opinion that my drives were separate...not partitioned. They did this, so that I would still have my folders, if something like this happened. Yes...the PC starts, but Firefox is one of my desktop icons (shortcuts), which won't work, now. It says that f8 is your "safe mode"...but how do you "go back", with "safe mode"? I think the shortcuts lead to the .exe files, for each program.

Hi,
You can easilly check this, go to help, about windows, system info, here you can see how many HD's you have, you can also see it by going to "My Computer"
Yes, F8 will allow you to start in safe mode, which may be a very good idea. Starting in "Safe mode" does not start all programs so any program problems will not give problems.
In "Safe mode" you can use "Checkdisk" and "Defrag" both are to be found under "Accessories" - "System tools". You can also find "System restore" here which may be what you need to use.
You mentioned "Firefox" is Firefox your default browser? you could check it in control panel, go to "Control panel" select - "Network and Internet connections" then "Internet options" under "Programs you will see one point where it may say "Tell me if Internet explorer is not my default browser" this setting may have been changed by a Windows update!!! if it is not what you wish to use you must correct it.
John.

This is great! I have plenty of pine needles out on my deck and just below! Unfortunately, the bathtub in this house is perfect for washing a small dog or a baby in, but not for a good long soak for a human. It's #1 - very shallow; #2 - not very wide, thus making it a bit on the claustrophobic side. I'd like to remodel that bathroom and put in a tub with jets in it. Maybe in a few years - lol
Take good care & thanks a lot for the aromapathic advice!

Marcia isnt it typical, you are the one with the pine cones and no bath and everyone else has the bath and no pine cones...hahaha

That is a very small bath....I have to admit I dont like a shower, I think they are cruel, you just heat one part of your body and the other part is freezing then you move and the part you heated gets chillled. ...and yes I have central heating in the bathroom. This is why I prefer a bath for a soak. However I think men prefer showers.

That new bath sounds lovely you must have a fair amoutn of room to do this.

Hi Paula,
I think women prefer baths to showers for very much the same reasons you mention. Plus, we know how to relax - men don't. They just want to get in there, soap up, rinse off and get out. When I had my huge garden tub in my last place I made a whole ritual out of it with the candles and so on. When I got off work at 1 a.m. and got home, it was time for my long luxurious soak in the tub. In the summer time I would wrap myself in my robe and sit outside under the stars and have a rum and coke before bed at around 4 a.m. I miss that.
Take good care - Hugs - Marcia

Hi Marcia
I think you have a point, we can relax. There is the other argument which Alex puts up....you are sitting in dirty water whereas if you have a shower all the water is clean. I can understand that with his job...but I dont thing men have the patience either for a bath.
Your old routine sounds lovely....I like the summertime routine you had. Do you always go to bed so late? We have found that most American people we know go to bed very early. We thought it had something to do with the temperature.
Thanks for the info
Hugs

Hi Paula,
I worked nights for 25 years and usually never got to bed before 4 a.m. A lot of people I know would say, "Why don't you go to bed when you get home?" Well, I would answer, "Why don't YOU got to bed when you get home from work at 6 p.m.?" There's lots of unwinding time involved. I've always been a night person and I hate mornings. I loved working nights because I never had to awake to an alarm clock. I got up when I felt like it and ran errands or whatever, then wandered into work and put in my shift. It was perfect for me, I thought! Even now that I'm retired, I usually don't go to bed before 2 a.m. and quite often I'm up until almost 4. I've also had days when I went to bed at 6 p.m. and slept until 9 a.m. Guess it's catch up time.
Most Americans that work day jobs go to bed around 10 or 11 p.m.

Marcia I didnt realise you worked nights. Like you I am a night person and I do keep trying to get to bed early but I am sure the hands on the clock go round faster when it is bedtime lol
I dont like mornings either...my brother is a morning person, I have never been a morning person. I could never get up for work that was awful lol What about Bill is he a morning person?
That is early to go to bed....however in saying that I am discovering more and more of my friend go to bed early. I think I am outnumbered as more of my friends are morning people. Wonder if the temperature has anything to do with people going to bed early...as they need an early start when the temps are high.
