I received this from a friend in the US.  It is worth a look at the pictures.

Hi,
This is very true! Our government has to be extra careful on these cheap imports from China , especially clothes and foot wear. The Chinese are using some cheap, but very strong chemicals in their manufacturing. Cheap can be expensive, when it causes problems, such as in the following pictures! At the same time, some of these chemicals, may be fatal.

This is true

Hi Paula,
I'm afraid there's no pictures, I think you'll have to save them first, then add them one at a time.
John.

Dont even want to think of the pain with "thong" underwear....OUCH!! hahaha

Thanks for the warning.
Hope you can take them back. I have some like that but I bought mine in Italy and the last pair when I was at Lake Tahoe. I know mine are all right as the ones from Lake Tahoe have an arch support..they are posh hahaha

Well paula there are none shown in this e-mail alert, when I visited your page there were none either so I'm baffled !!
scottishps wrote on Jan 28
Where are the photos?
The photos follow on with the mail....looks like the others can see them. Can you use a different browser and see if that makes a difference.

Paula
stormlizard wrote on Jan 28
Nope, just empty frames with a little box with a red X in it at the top left hand corner !
stormlizard wrote on Jan 28
Normally I can always see photos shown in mail alerts so I'm still baffled.
jokebroersen wrote on Jan 28
I don't see pictures too. Maybe another program? Just empty frames with a little red x just like stormlizard. maybe another time. Greetings, Joke

Joke I used to get this when I used Internet Explorer and I have been using Firefox. However I have just checked and I can get the pictures with both browsers so I have no idea. I has to do with the compatibilty...what browser are you using? I have this problem with a friend who uses Netscape. Alll her pictures come out with just a little red x in the corner.
Joke you will see the pictures if you click on the snopes link at the bottom of the page.

It must be to do with the setup of your browser. However if you click on the snopes link you will see the pictures ...I think there are some there.

Paula, I don't see your pictures either, but I did go to the snopes site. You already know how I feel about products made in China -- they're poison. Now flip flops are poison. When is this going to stop? By the way, where did you get them with arch supports? You are definitely very posh. LOL

Ok folks I have added the pictures....so you will all see the ones I had onscreen last night. Unfortunately they dont appear today and I cannot remove the spaces.
I think it is frightening as I know these type of sandals are worn in the summer over here. Thankfully I dont think we have the worry as ours dont come from China.....but one can never be too careful.

Next to the skin, only natural products, leather, cotton, wool and silk. everything synthetic should be avoided at all costs.

I remember clearly of your thoughts on the imports from China.
Isnt it sad...the people in our countries need the work..yet to make a few extra pounds...bucks over in the US...they have them imported because the labour is so cheap.
We stayed the Embassy Suites when we were in Lake Tahoe and they have a shop which sells all sorts of things. I in fact didnt buy them when we were over, but sent for them afterwards as the pair I had burst. LOL oh you agree they are posh. They are so well made. I think there is a website...but I shall have to check that out. I do know there is a separate phone number. They hotel is fairly new so they maybe more organised now. That was in 2005 when we were there.

I dont blame you feeling the way you do...the more we know about what goes on the worse it is. Yes I agree it is the cheap labour. In saying that we have all our call centres in India...you try with a Scottish accent and mine is not strong, try to make yourself understood it is an impossiblity. They dont understand me, I dont understand them. I have no prejudice against any race whatsoever, but I think people on the end of the phone line should be able to make themselves understood...and that doesnt happen. Its all to make more money. We dont get a reduction which is what should happen...Oh how I would love to give these companies an ultimatum
work here or they are out of business. hahaha I dont like politicicans and they ok everything like that....or turn a blind eye.

It is all about money...the world is ruled by money...it doesnt matter how it harms you, if it kills you or whatever, as long as someone out there is making extra money. Look what they have done to the sea.

You are like me you only like natural products. I suffer if I use them next to the skin. I cannot believe the underwear and nightwear which is synthetic.

u know... the other night I went there... bought a 20 silver braclet, and some silver earings, the latch fell off as I went to put on the braclet, I fixed it, seemed like a fixable thing, not worth exchanging. Then the clasp broke, yes my arm was hit by a car door, but my arm was not against anything, the door bairly touched me, and then, as I checked out the earings, a one of the posts fell off :|

I liked Kmart better, they had the tara cotta pots from Portugal and loved them, I would use nothing else, in many sizes, made it to 127 before Kmart was no more, and to this day my plants are in an eclectic mix of pots :( I would like better organization, but Kmart left us all hung out todry, well wall mart did it :| lololol
scottishps wrote on Jan 29
Sorry to hear about your bracelet and earrings...that is not a very good adverisement for them. Are you taking the earrings back?

We dont have Walmart or Kmart over here. Walmart bought over a chain of stores here but they are nothing like they are over there.
Your stores are huge, ours could fit in a corner. You would be quite shocked I am sure lol

Do you have any idea why some of the photo's show up on my computer blank, with just a 'lil red x in a box in the upper left hand corner? Something is messed up with my settings, my videos don't show up right, there's just a small box in the center I have to click to allow it, I have no idea what I've done to my computer. ciao hon; Joe

What browser are you using? I find this can happen with Internet Explorer . I use Mozilla Firefox and things are ok.

The other thing is have you adjusted your settings recently?
Hope this helps.

Thanks for clearing that up

The only reason I even know about D&G is I was dating a gal for a bit, if it wasn't D&G or something similar, Prada, etc, she really didn't care to know about it. Tried to tell her others make similar goods, same quality without the inflated price, and some things you just can't get D&G like my Tony Lama boots and such, and I don't think D&G makes any ,45 cal 1911 pistols I would be interested in, but she didn't care. I forgot my distance glasses on a trip out to Nevada for one of my shooting classes, had to get a pair in Vegas, ended up with D&G frames LOL as they were the only frames they had I liked. I guess ya just never know ;-}
scottishps wrote on Jul 23
I am not familiar with D&G articles. Sounds like the gal you were dating had very expensive taste OR she was tunnel visioned. Everyone needs variety in their life...and that includes all artlcles and clothing.
You are right you never know...I have paid a lot of money for sunglasses over the years and despite the price I still used to get burned eyelids. I got a pair when I was in Californiia which are a great design. They fit your face but they also fit over spectacles.
They protected my eyelids well.

Where are the photos?
All the photos now seem to be here- using the old Firefox 2.0xx.
-----
I went clothes shopping (store called Avenue) the other day, and made a bee-line for the sandals- natch most were made in China (flip flops especially). I went right up to the asst. manager and told her about this. It's amazing that word does not get out to clothing retailers! Or maybe it does...and they're crossing their fingers.....hmmmm..

I am pleased you had read this article. I have no idea why the retailers dont know....but as you say...maybe they do...if you think about it, they will be making more money as they can have a higher mark up on the goods so they are looking after their own interests as these days money comes first before giving thought to anyone else.

Why not re-post photos- either here again or link them to a photo post. The issue is that we have a BIG problem with sub-par 'goods'. Paula thanks again for bring up an important problem! Now, who's calling Channel 7? ;-)

"or link them to a photo post." - DUH. I meant link a photo-post to this blog. Just to be clear...anyways, it's a good idea to look at the whole article at Snopes, along with all the other great stuff there. Snopes is GREAT for de-bunking 'urban myths' and rumors, as well as telling us that the above sandal fiasco is NOT a myth!- Again, Paula! Thanks forreminding me this site exists..(now, are these sandals making my feet itch....?)
scottishps wrote on Aug 3
Send a link from your site to the two pages as they are for "everyone" to read...
The one about the hairbands must have mothers or grandmothers concerned for their children. You may have children you have or know of friends who should know about this.
Yes I like Snopes....I wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt looked up Snopes.
One thing is for sure you wont have any problems like these now you are warned. It is scary...makes you wonder what they will try next.
