I received this from a friend in the US. It is worth a look at the pictures. Paula Hi, This is very true! Our government has to be extra careful on these cheap imports from China , especially clothes and foot wear. The Chinese are using some cheap, but very strong chemicals in their manufacturing. Cheap can be expensive, when it causes problems, such as in the following pictures! At the same time, some of these chemicals, may be fatal.

 | Hi Paula, I'm afraid there's no pictures, I think you'll have to save them first, then add them one at a time. John. |
 | Went & Looked....Ouch...Looked Painful...Good Thing They Weren't......... "Thong"... Underwear!!!..Imagine That Pain!..lol.. |
| I had some like that. Thanks for the warning. |
 | Well paula there are none shown in this e-mail alert, when I visited your page there were none either so I'm baffled !! |
 | Nope, just empty frames with a little box with a red X in it at the top left hand corner ! |
 | Normally I can always see photos shown in mail alerts so I'm still baffled. |
 | I don't see pictures too. Maybe another program? Just empty frames with a little red x just like stormlizard. maybe another time. Greetings, Joke |
 | Fyi..I Don't See The Pics Either..But Just Click The Link For The Whole Thing, Pics And All...(Warning..Not Pretty..Poor Feet).... |
 | Ah, thanks Elvis, So that's the solution. John. |
 | OK, I agree, the pictures are not nice to see. But they are only visible on "Snopes" |
 | Paula, I don't see your pictures either, but I did go to the snopes site. You already know how I feel about products made in China -- they're poison. Now flip flops are poison. When is this going to stop? By the way, where did you get them with arch supports? You are definitely very posh. LOL |
 | I hope they don't make "Co***ms" |
 | The condoms are used for rubber bands.Eeeeek fancy trying to tie your girls hair with that...Everthing makes me vomit. Its not China thats at fault. Its the companies who use cheap labour and force our countries out of work. They are the rat-bags who poison everything..I dont blame China.Thats my opinion anyway and thats the way I look at this issue.Rich countries are to blame...Great post. |
 | Now I could open this. I did not know that I had te click the snoopes link at the bottom. Brandymix is right. Rich countries who wants to make more money are to blame. Thanks, Joke |
 | Ok folks I have added the pictures....so you will all see the ones I had onscreen last night. Unfortunately they dont appear today and I cannot remove the spaces. I think it is frightening as I know these type of sandals are worn in the summer over here. Thankfully I dont think we have the worry as ours dont come from China.....but one can never be too careful.

 | Very true Paula, Next to the skin, only natural products, leather, cotton, wool and silk. everything synthetic should be avoided at all costs. John. |
 | It pays to know what you are buying. Paula u know... the other night I went there... bought a 20 silver braclet, and some silver earings, the latch fell off as I went to put on the braclet, I fixed it, seemed like a fixable thing, not worth exchanging. Then the clasp broke, yes my arm was hit by a car door, but my arm was not against anything, the door bairly touched me, and then, as I checked out the earings, a one of the posts fell off :|
I liked Kmart better, they had the tara cotta pots from Portugal and loved them, I would use nothing else, in many sizes, made it to 127 before Kmart was no more, and to this day my plants are in an eclectic mix of pots :( I would like better organization, but Kmart left us all hung out todry, well wall mart did it :| lololol |
 | Sorry to hear about your bracelet and earrings...that is not a very good adverisement for them. Are you taking the earrings back?
We dont have Walmart or Kmart over here. Walmart bought over a chain of stores here but they are nothing like they are over there. Your stores are huge, ours could fit in a corner. You would be quite shocked I am sure lol Paula |
 | Meant to say what are you going to do about your plants? Paula |
 | Do you have any idea why some of the photo's show up on my computer blank, with just a 'lil red x in a box in the upper left hand corner? Something is messed up with my settings, my videos don't show up right, there's just a small box in the center I have to click to allow it, I have no idea what I've done to my computer. ciao hon; Joe |
 | What browser are you using? I find this can happen with Internet Explorer . I use Mozilla Firefox and things are ok.
The other thing is have you adjusted your settings recently? Hope this helps. Paula
|
| Oh my gosh- how awful!!!- thank Heavens for Snopes! And that you saw this! All the kids in junior high LIVE in thong flip-flops in the US. I'm calling my sis! |
 | Yep, saw it on Snopes. Nasty! Have a great weekend Hon. Ciao; Joe |
 | Geese Paula, I didn't know Dolche & Gabbana made $400. flip flops, but I guess you learn something new everyday. LOL. |
 | I didnt realise that either....makes you wonder what things are coming to. Paula |
 | Just that you had mentioned yours were from Italy...... ciao hon; Joe |
 | Joe you are mistaken I am not from Italy. I was on holiday there once..that is all. Paula |
 | Paula, I know you're not from Italy, you're from Scotland, and you had mentioned your flip-flops were from Italy or other European countries. I was Joking when I mentioned the $400. D&G flip flops. Ciao Hon. |
 | Joe I forgot about the flip flops being from Italy lolol I had a wonderful holiday there. I know you were joking about the D & G flip flops..at least I hoped you were lol Thanks for clearing that up Paula |
 | The only reason I even know about D&G is I was dating a gal for a bit, if it wasn't D&G or something similar, Prada, etc, she really didn't care to know about it. Tried to tell her others make similar goods, same quality without the inflated price, and some things you just can't get D&G like my Tony Lama boots and such, and I don't think D&G makes any ,45 cal 1911 pistols I would be interested in, but she didn't care. I forgot my distance glasses on a trip out to Nevada for one of my shooting classes, had to get a pair in Vegas, ended up with D&G frames LOL as they were the only frames they had I liked. I guess ya just never know ;-} |
 | I am not familiar with D&G articles. Sounds like the gal you were dating had very expensive taste OR she was tunnel visioned. Everyone needs variety in their life...and that includes all artlcles and clothing. You are right you never know...I have paid a lot of money for sunglasses over the years and despite the price I still used to get burned eyelids. I got a pair when I was in Californiia which are a great design. They fit your face but they also fit over spectacles. They protected my eyelids well. Paula

| Where are the photos? All the photos now seem to be here- using the old Firefox 2.0xx. ----- I went clothes shopping (store called Avenue) the other day, and made a bee-line for the sandals- natch most were made in China (flip flops especially). I went right up to the asst. manager and told her about this. It's amazing that word does not get out to clothing retailers! Or maybe it does...and they're crossing their fingers.....hmmmm.. |
| I am pleased you had read this article. I have no idea why the retailers dont know....but as you say...maybe they do...if you think about it, they will be making more money as they can have a higher mark up on the goods so they are looking after their own interests as these days money comes first before giving thought to anyone else. Paula This stuff just needs to hit the news!! Shall we send the photos to the networks ;-) ?
FYI- using IE 7- I've lost SOME of you photos here..... |
 | I would have thought that it would have reached the news...however I feel everyone should know. I use Firefox, but in saying that you should not lose any of the photos. I thin there is something strange going on. Other people have had problems on their sites with videos when using IE 7..... |
| It must be to do with the setup of your browser. However if you click on the snopes link you will see the pictures ...I think there are some there.
Paula Why not re-post photos- either here again or link them to a photo post. The issue is that we have a BIG problem with sub-par 'goods'. Paula thanks again for bring up an important problem! Now, who's calling Channel 7? ;-) |
 | I never thought to repost the photos....but I did leave it open for everyone.
Did you read the post about what they are doing now...they are making hairbands from recycled USED condoms. Take a look...that shocked me. Paula |
| "or link them to a photo post." - DUH. I meant link a photo-post to this blog. Just to be clear...anyways, it's a good idea to look at the whole article at Snopes, along with all the other great stuff there. Snopes is GREAT for de-bunking 'urban myths' and rumors, as well as telling us that the above sandal fiasco is NOT a myth!- Again, Paula! Thanks forreminding me this site exists..(now, are these sandals making my feet itch....?) |
 | Send a link from your site to the two pages as they are for "everyone" to read... The one about the hairbands must have mothers or grandmothers concerned for their children. You may have children you have or know of friends who should know about this. Yes I like Snopes....I wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt looked up Snopes. One thing is for sure you wont have any problems like these now you are warned. It is scary...makes you wonder what they will try next.
